In a major push to boost tourism and support economic recovery, Sri Lanka will now offer free tourist visas to nationals of 40 countries, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath announced on July 25.
Kolkata–Kathmandu Flights Return This September After 11-Month Hiatus
After nearly a year, Kolkata is all set to regain its air link to Nepal’s capital. Starting September 1, 2025, Buddha Air, Nepal’s largest private airline, will relaunch direct flights between Kolkata and Kathmandu, offering travellers a convenient alternative to the current detour via Delhi. The airline will operate four times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—using a 70-seater ATR 72-500 aircraft.

Air India Launches Daily Delhi–Gaya Flights from September 2025
Air India, India’s leading global airline, has announced the launch of daily flights between Delhi and Gaya, beginning 01 September 2025. Operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, the new service will offer a full-service flying experience. With this addition, Gaya becomes the 46th domestic destination in Air India’s growing network. The move is expected to significantly enhance religious tourism.

300-Year-Old Haveli in Udaipur Turned into a Luxury Boutique Hotel
In the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan, a 300-year-old family haveli has been lovingly transformed into a luxury boutique hotel, where every stone whispers stories of the past. Once the cherished home of Prakram Singh Chawra, Kaladwas Lal Haveli stands opposite the city’s old ghantaghar, surrounded by memories of market mornings and childhood adventures on cobbled streets.Restoring the haveli was no small feat. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Abhyaran Becomes Madhya Pradesh’s 25th Wildlife Sanctuary
The Madhya Pradesh government has officially declared a new wildlife sanctuary spanning 258.64 sq km in Sagar district, named in honour of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. The announcement was made ahead of Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary on April 14.This sanctuary, comprising of reserved forests within the North Sagar forest division, including Tehsil Banda and Shahgarh, marks an important addition to the state’s rich tapestry of protected areas.
Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu god of prosperity and wisdom, is a prominent figure on the exterior walls of South Indian temples in Kerala. Ganesh Chaturthi, a ten-day festival honouring Ganesha’s birth, starts on the fourth day of Bhadrapada (August-September) in the Hindu calendar. During the festival, Ganesha idols are placed on platforms in homes or elaborately decorated tents.
