Dear Industry Colleagues,
Welcome To another edition 'Creatively Yours'.
This edition brings on a new look and feel. We hope you like it. There are always many minds and opinions that go into designing our material, so if you have any feedback to share, please drop us a note.
We are excited to have been awarded our 27th World Travel Award this year at a glittering World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City. This attests to our position as being one of the finest teams for luxury travel experiences in the region. With our 8th SITE Crystal award received earlier in the year, we now have 88 global awards for our work, making us South Asia’s most recognised DMC. We are very proud of what our team does for our partners across the world.
After drastically increasing taxes on foreign travellers, Bhutan has done a reversal, cutting these down by half till 2027. We feel these are now more reasonable and acceptable for such a unique destination.
This month our team made an in-depth visit to Nepal. There have been a lot of changes in the destination, many very positive. We came back with some new ideas and great insight into new hotels to use. Read a first-hand report by Rajeev Kohli and also a small piece of what Nepal has to offer as a destination.
We have also curated a special selection of wellness resorts across the destination whom we partner with. If you would like a copy of our new brochure “Mind, Body & Soul of India”, emailed to you please send us a message.
Our 2023-2024 sample prices are ready for sharing. These are meant to be a tool to help travel planners get an understanding of what the destination can look like across different journeys and price points. To get a copy, email us at engage@creative.travel .
Read these and other stories in this edition of Creatively Yours. Additional news items are also on our blog site.
Have a Creative Day!
Rajeev Kohli & Rohit Kohli

Bhutan cuts tourism tax
After increasing its tourism levy, known as the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) on foreign travellers significantly last year, Bhutan has cut this down by half to bolster its tourism sector.
With a 50% reduction, this tourism levy now stands at US$ 100 per person per night, against the earlier US$200 per person per night. This change will come into effect from September 1, 2023, and shall remain in force for four years until August 31, 2027.
The change was made in view of the important role of the tourism sector in generating employment and earning foreign exchange for the country. Post Covid, the recovery has been slower than expected and the reduction is expected to bolster numbers. The Bhutanese government also realises the potential for spillover benefits into ancillary industries; boosting overall economic growth; and funding important environmental, social and infrastructure projects.

Nepal: Where nature, adventure, and culture converge
Cradled within the pristine perfection of the mighty Himalayas, Nepal is a land blessed with a unique trinity of distinctive experiences for explorers. Bordered by India to the south and China to the north, the "Roof of the World" is a land of stark contrasts. Here, ancient traditions coexist with modern influences, creating an unexpectedly delightful escape from the beaten path. Exquisite landscapes apart, one of Nepal's biggest drawcards is its heart-pounding adventures, ranging from trekking, mountaineering, wildlife safaris, rafting and even bungee jumping. And for the incorrigible culture vulture, the country is a storehouse of time-honoured history and culture, with its ancient shrines and deeply ingrained religious faith.
