"Creatively Yours" wins PATA Gold Award
2009
PATA Travel Mart, Hangzhou, China
Creative Travel is proud to announce that our monthly newsletter,
“Creatively Yours” has been awarded the the highly prestigious PATA Gold
Award for excellence in marketing. This is indeed a very special honour for us.
“Creatively Yours” goes out to over 35,000 travel professionals all over
the world and has an excellent readership rate. Started in September 2005,
the newsletter celebrates 4 years of delivery this month. Unlike many
other newsletters, “Creatively Yours” is focused on the region and covers
stories relevant to real-time operations of our partners and other sellers
of travel to the India sub-continent. The newsletter has always been at
the forefront of information dissemination when any incident occurred in
the sub-continent. This was especially vital when the incidents were
taking place in Mumbai last November and when the international travel
community was asking for information from the destination. “Creatively
Yours” sent out 5 global updates that were highly appreciated. Over 1,000
mails of appreciation and support to the destination were received.
We at Creative Travel are delighted to have “Creatively Yours” honoured by
PATA. The award was received at a glittering ceremony by our Jt. Managing
Director, Rohit Kohli, at the PATA Travel Mart in Hangzhou, China on
September 25, 2009.
We at Team Creative are truly humbled and excited by this honour. The
marketing team has worked hard to ensure the accuracy and integrity of
information in "Creatively Yours" and the PATA Gold Award is a
testament
to years of hard work.

Kumbh Mela 2010 - Witness the World's largest gathering on faith
They came by the millions! Some arrived on overcrowded trains carrying
five times their normal capacity. Some came by bus, by car, some by ox
drawn carts, and others rode on horses, camels, and even elephants. The
rich and famous chartered private planes and helicopters, while the less
affluent came on foot carrying their bed rolls and camping equipment in
heavy bundles on their heads. Wave after wave, they formed a veritable
river of humanity that flowed onto the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar to
celebrate the greatest spiritual festival ever held in the history of the
world, the Kumbh Mela.

Dussehra, 28th September (Monday)
Dussehra symbolises the triumph of good over evil. This Hindu festival is
celebrated all over India to mark the victory of Rama over Ravana, the
great demon and king of Lankan, who had abducted Rama's wife, Sita. In north
India the Dussehra celebration includes the Ram-Lila that consists of
plays, recitations and music that recall the life of the legendary hero,
Rama. The Ram-Lila is held during the nine days preceding Dussehra. On the
tenth day, elaborate processions lead to the Ram-Lila grounds where
immense cracker-stuffed effigies of the demon Ravana and his son and
brother - Meghnath and Kumbhakarna explode to the cheers of thousands of
spectators. |

occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation". It
is celebrated on October 2, every year and is one of the three official
declared National Holidays of India. The day is marked by prayer services
and tributes all over India, especially at Raj Ghat, Gandhi's memorial in
New Delhi marking the spot where he was cremated. Popular celebrations include prayer

Deepavali (Diwali), 17th October (Saturday)
Diwali, or Deepavali, perhaps the best-known Hindu festival is celebrated
throughout India and marks the end
of the season that opens with Dussehra. Diwali is called the
"festival of lights", and the name itself means an array of lamps (Deep -
Lamp, Vali - Array). Indeed, illumination is characteristic of Diwali. The
array of lamps symbolize welcoming Lord Rama back to Ayodhya after
his 14 years of exile, and the common practice is to light small oil
lamps, diyas, and place them around the house. If there is one occasion
that is full of joy and jubilation for all, it is Diwali. |

From - Anne Quinn
To - Creative Travel
I am emailing you to offer feedback on our recent trip to India
with your company. As two single women travelling ahead of the tour group
(we added on two extra nights before the tour) we had concerns about our
connections in Delhi, which were quickly pushed aside when we were met by
the Creative Travel friendly rep, who having settled us into our hotel -
organized a meeting for us with our tour guide and throughout the trip we
were treated like VIPs.
Our holiday began immediately as we were taken out on a tour of a new
temple in Delhi and were offered a reasonable priced overnight excursion to
Amritsar to see the Golden Temple, which we were delighted to do. We were
collected from the hotel and escorted to our seats on the train and met by
a rep at Amritsar with equal efficiency and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
We did not expect the tour to better our experience in Amritsar, but our
holiday kept improving and when the tour group arrived, it was great to
have a lively, friendly group to socialize with. Our tour guide was
informative and worked exhaustively to fulfill every requirement of the
diverse group with shopping and social excursions to suit all tastes and
budgets. Throughout the tour the standard of accommodation was exceptional
and the hotel staff friendly and professional. The meals were a banquet
and as a vegetarian, my sister had plenty of tasty choices of both Indian
and Italian dishes, with some hotels also providing a more wholesome menu.
A lightening strike towards the end of our trip did not interfere with the
enjoyment of our holiday and the office quickly made alternative
arrangements to ensure the large group could return to Delhi to rest
before our international flight home. Having traveled independently for
many years, I cannot say enough good things about this trip except to say
it demonstrates how well escorted tours have evolved to suit the
individual, while offering the advantages of traveling within a group,
and on the strength of this tour, I look forward to my next tour with your
company.
Thanks,
Anne Quinn

Navratri,
longest festival in the world to begin from Saturday, 19th September
Navratri, meaning 'nine nights', is widely
celebrated Hindu festival in many parts of India. Gujarat, however, is
the only state that erupts into a nine-night dance festival perhaps the
longest in the world. Each night, all over the state, villages and cities
alike, people gather in open spaces to celebrate the feminine divinity,
referred to as Shakti. The dance form known as Ras Garba. The focal point of every garba circle is the small Goddess shrine erected by each community to mark
the beginning of the festival. Each night the village or urban neighborhood
gathers to perform a puja to one of the nine forms of the Goddess. After the puja begins the music; it is unmistakable to those who are
familiar with the style and irresistible to many. People begin to dance in
a circle, whirling away till late into the night. It is not uncommon to
find dancers with swords or lit flames and other spectacles. |

Next craze:
Dream cruise on the high seas
Fancy a cruise on a luxury yacht along the coast of Karnataka, Kerala and
Goa? This could well be the latest holiday craze in Karnataka, if
everything goes according to plan. The state government, in a bid to give
tourism a much-needed fillip, is seriously vying for inter-state cruise
connectivity with Kerala and Goa. Its 300-km long coast is a major asset
for such an idea. Officials said the proposed project will initially
include cruise liners that cover various destinations along the state
coastline and provide world-class luxury and recreation to tourists in
neighbouring states. The project would be implemented on public-private
partnership (PPP) mode and a private party would operate the cruise. Under
the inter-state project, tourists will travel from Mangalore to Kochi in
Kerala, and from Karwar to Panaji in Goa on the sea route, halting at
tourist spots enroute. The luxury ships will offer all facilities,
including dining and bed, for a minimum period of 10 days.

Traveler - August 2009
Fateh Garh, a Heritage Renaissance Resort, perched on a hilltop 20
minutes outside the city. This newly constructed 51-room hotel
incorporates local stone and antique architectural elements culled from
abandoned historic buildings. A confection of bulbous domes, sugar-white

verandas - all of which are graced with antiques and delicate frescoes
inspired by the style of Rajput miniatures. Lie by the infinity pool,

Resorts inside Chitwan National Park :
Update
Natural Resources and Means Committee (NRMC) of the Legislature
Parliament on Sunday overruled the decision of the Public Accounts
Committee (PAC) to allow the seven hotels located inside Chitwan National
Park (CNP) to resume operation. The hotels had been closed since July 15
after their 15-year contract expired. PAC had decided to let them operate
until 2012 considering the government's decision to mark 2011 as Nepal
Tourism Year. PAC had offered the hotels two alternatives - an extension
of their contracts for the next three years or a five-year contract at a
new rate of royalty and shifting outside the buffer zone of CNP within a
year. However, the NRMC decided to reverse PAC's move stating that the
decision to decide whether to allow the hotels to resume operation or not
fell under its jurisdiction and that PAC's authority was limited to
studying their financial status including revenue collection and taxes. |
