Welcome to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India

Dear Industry Colleagues:

Here is another edition of the award winning "Creatively Yours". This is however a very special issue.......

On March 3rd, another milestone was achieved in our 33 year history. Our team works hard and as they say hard work pays off !! At a glittering award ceremony of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Creative Travel was honoured with two National Tourism Awards as “India’s Best Inbound Tour Operator” in our category and as "India's Best MICE Operator" (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events). The award was presented by the Hon. Vice President of India, Mr. Mohd. Hamid Ansari and Hon. Minister of Tourism, Ms Kumari Shelja. We are naturally very very excited, honoured and thrilled about this. We want to thank all our partners in India and overseas for all the support they have shown us to make this possible. Read more about this below.

With April around the corner, its time for us to start planning programs and pricing for Summer. We encourage all of you to send through your thoughts on what you think could work for your markets, so that we can have the team customize a product set for you. We at Creative intend to aggressively push the price competitiveness of India in its shoulder period as we feel the market is turning around for us all and let's use that to gain some interaction and make up for lost business.

There are two updates on the Indian visa changes. Those are below.

You shall see some new and exciting initiatives this year from Team Creative. New experiential inclusions, new circuits, new concepts... we take pride in our ability to make a trip to the Indian sub-continent something very different.

Have a Creative Day - Rajeev

On March 3rd, another milestone was achieved in our 33 year history. Our team works hard and as they say hard work pays off !! At a glittering award ceremony of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Creative Travel was honoured with two National Tourism Awards as “India’s Best Inbound Tour Operator” in our category and as "India's Best MICE Operator" (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events). The award was presented by the Hon. Vice President of India, Mr. Mohd. Hamid Ansari, Hon. Minister of Tourism, Ms Kumari Shelja with the Hon. Minister of State for Tourism, Mr.Sultan Ahmed.. Also present on the stage were Mr. Sujit Banerjee, Secretary of Tourism, Government of India and Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Additional Secretary and Chairman & MD of the India Tourism Development Corporation.

This was a very high powered event. In the audience were many other senior members of the government and the industry, including the heads of all leading hotels and airlines. This annual event is highly awaited as it is the finest tribute to the best of the best in our industry. The awards are presented to state governments, hotels, travel companies and other individuals for their performance in the preceding year. We are truly humbled and delighted to have been recognized by our government for the work we do in keeping India's flag flying high.

The award for our inbound division reaffirms our belief of being the best DMC in the destination. With an untiring effort to achieve excellence in service, the leisure team at Creative has been truly delighted at the recognition.

The two specialist teams in the company, the Incentives team and Plan it ! Meetings & Conferences have worked hard over the past few years to make their mark both within Creative and in the industry in General and is today the most awarded Incentives & Meetings team in South Asia. Over the years we have understood the importance of specializations and unlike a lot of other inbound companies in our destination, we made a conscious decision to bifurcate the skill set within the company. The Plan it ! Meetings team has its own set of dedicated professionals who do nothing but PCO related work. Our incentive team has skilled people who do nothing but incentives. This way, we have achieved a level of perfection that truly does justice to our claim of being the most awarded Meetings & Incentives team in South Asia.

We want to thank all our partners in India and overseas for all the support they have shown us to make this possible. We are naturally very very excited, honoured and thrilled about this. We want to thank all our partners in India and overseas for all the support they have shown us to make this possible.

Tourism in India showing signs of early recovery from global economic meltdown
The Tourism Minister Kumari Selja has said that tourism in India has already started showing signs of early recovery from the impact of global economic meltdown and in December 2009 tourist arrivals grew substantially by 21 % registering a growth of over 8% over the arrivals in December 2007 which was a year of high growth. She was speaking at the 5th Tourism Leadership Forum on the “Prospects & Challenge of Tourism Recovery for 2010/2011” held in Madrid, Spain. She informed the gathering that one of the reasons for the tourism sector in India not being impacted as much as rest of the world was the good performance of the Indian economy. She said, inspite of the global economic recession in 2008 and 2009, Indian economy has continued has continued to have good growth. India’s GDP in 2008-09 grew by 6.7%. During April-September, 2009 India’s GDP has seen a growth of 7%, whereas the global economy is estimated to have a negative growth in 2009.
