June 2015

Rajeev Kohli
Joint Managing Director

Dear Industry Colleagues

Welcome to another edition of award winning 'Creatively Yours'.

Summer has been upon us and now the rains have also started in certain places. The monsoons are a critical factor in the Indian economy being that 66% of India still lives in the villages. We do hope we have a healthy monsoon for this bring good things for the economy.

The government of Delhi has sent a shocker to the industry yesterday by announcing steep hike in taxes on hotels. The industry will react and lobby for its reversal and we shall keep you posted. This is not a positive move for tourism in general.

We in Team Creative are also very proud to have been nominated again for THREE World Travel Awards for a fifth year running. This is a tremendous honour. With our previous wins, we hope you will support us this year as well. Every vote helps count towards our success, for it is only the support from our friends and partners across the world that make us what we are today. Details on how to vote are below.

For those of you operating in the incentive industry, India is proud to host the 2015 SITE Global Conference, an event that will truly bring the East and West together. The excitement and buzz on India as the destination has been truly inspiring. Everyone in the incentive industry is talking about the conference. People are excited, for this will be a trip of a lifetime combined with all the valuable education, networking and business opportunities that SITE has to offer. The buzz is reflected in all the registrations coming in. See details on that event below.

You shall see some new and exciting initiatives in the next season from Team Creative. New experiential inclusions, new circuits, new concepts... We take pride in our ability to make a trip to the Indian sub-continent something very different.

Take care

Have a Creative Day! Rajeev

It’s about trust, continuity and reliability...... for 38 years we have honored the trust our clients & partners have placed in us across India and the subcontinent. We have never let a partner down and never will.

That is why we are humbled and honored to have been nominated for a 5th year running as "India's Leading Destination Management Company"; "Asia's Leading Destination Management Company" and for the second time as "India's Leading Luxury Travel Agency"

You helped us over the last three years with your support and make a humble request for that support this year as well.

Every organisation needs a soul, a mission, a foundation. To us, business is about building relationships. Our partners are our family, not numbers. Our travellers are guests not clients. We do not want to be the largest company in India, just the best. We hold close to our hearts the values of integrity, of partnership, of quality and of trust - trust of our employees, of our partners, of our travellers.

Some things are just never to be compromised.

We owe our success to all partners and to the 150 team members who toil for our guests across the Indian subcontinent. We are proud of our history and the future it gives us. Read more about us at

What they think about us ....

We at Creative track guest feedback very carefully. Each evaluation form gives us an insight on our operations and allows us to constantly refine our service delivery process. Now and then we get a few letters that brighten up our days. This is an excerpt from one of the lovely messages we get :

Bill and Ceri Gavin
April, 2015

We certainly had a most memorable time in India and Nepal - made more special by your commitment to providing us with the best possible guidance as our trip progressed - and, of course, the friendly and sociable group of travel colleagues who also made our time together such a positive experience.

Our extension trip to Amritsar was a further memorable experience. We visited the Sikh Golden Temple both in the evening as the holy book was "put to bed" (a wonderful occasion as our guide got us up and close to the ceremony) and then witnessing the great number of pilgrims the next day, many of whom were making their special visit to the temple from outside Amritsar. The other great experience was travelling some 25 kilometres to the Pakistan border to witness the flag lowering ceremony - we were amazed at the numbers attending the ceremony (which happens every day) from the Indian side of the border. There were specially constructed grandstands to accommodate what we estimated to be at least 5,000 people, if not more. By comparison the Pakistan side was quite sparsely populated. Leading up to the ceremony itself there was loud patriotic music (both sides competing for the loudest music), flag waving, dancing and then specially uniformed soldiers on both sides indulging in exaggerated marching routines, all of which took up to an hour before the flags were actually lowered. It was a fine end to our Indian holiday.

We will not soon forget India and all that it has to offer.

Our best wishes
Bill and Ceri Gavin

    India Eases Visa Processing

The director of India tourism, Toronto is welcoming India’s decision to begin offering Canadians electronic tourist visas from May, a decision which greatly eases the process.

The new visas are available at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html, eliminating the need for sometimes inconvenient visits to India diplomatic missions.
You can sit in your office and log in to the visa site and pay online as well. Canada was one of the dozen of countries India decided should be entitled to electronic visas.
Tour operators that send people to India frequently complained that the old system of getting visas was a disincentive for people to visit India.

Ease of entry into a country encourages trade missions, special interest groups and independent travellers. Removing the inconvenient need to give up your passport for days of visa processing and replacing it with an online process means India has stepped into the future of tourism.

The electronic tourist visas are good for 30 days, with some of those attending the Toronto event suggesting the government should lengthen them, making the country more attractive to long-stay visitors. The new visas come as Air Canada’s upcoming direct Toronto-Delhi service draws closer. The direct 13.5 hour service is expected to heighten India’s appeal to tourists in this country.

IRCTC to upgrade passenger amenities at Varanasi & Mumbai stations

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Mumbai and Varanasi, two of the busiest stations in India, will undergo a major facelift with upgraded passenger amenities and a swankier look under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives being launched by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC).

Under the MoU signed, IRCTC will undertake upgradation of amenities at the two high-profile stations, including clean toilets, potable water and first aid/medical facilities, besides more wheel chairs, luggage trolleys and golf carts. While IRCTC will finance the development of the infrastructure facilities, operation and maintenance will be undertaken by the Railways, stated a release.

IRCTC is among the five major ‘ratna’ PSUs of the Ministry of Railways which have been tasked with improving the profile and passenger amenities at ten major stations under their CSR plans. The two stations are important not only because of their high-profile image but also because they are extremely important from the tourism point of view, he pointed out. “While Mumbai is the commercial capital of India, Varanasi is a prominent religious place, and both the stations attract huge footfalls. We will strive to make travelling a pleasant experience for rail passengers by upgrading facilities for them,” the official said.
