Welcome to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India
|
|
Dear Industry
Colleagues:
Here is another edition of the award winning "Creatively Yours".
The office is buzzing again. Requests are flowing in from all over
the world and the mood in the Indian travel industry is buoyant. Of
course, some countries are picking up slower than others, but
overall things look a lot better than they did 6 months ago.
First, something exciting - the
Indian Rupee has now been given its very own Symbol. This brings the
Rupee into the elite club of only 6 other currencies that have their
own symbol. In a contest held by the Government of India, over 4,000
entries were submitted and the new symbol was chosen for its
incorporation of both the West and the East.
We received another small acknowledgement from our partners Taj
Hotels, Resorts & Palaces. Another reminder of the wonderful work
our team does. A few weeks ago we also had the privilege of
welcoming the 15 most beautiful young women from Hong Kong when the
Miss Hong Kong pageant came to India for a outport shoot. A fun
project for all those involved.
Delhi has a brand new airport,
said to the fifth largest in the world. Emirates honored it by
flying in a A380 to herald a new age in Indian aviation.
Our product development team is busy creating different tours for
all our partners all over the world. If you would like to see how
can we add some magic to what you do, let us know. We after all take
pride in our ability to make a trip to the Indian sub-continent
something very different.

Last month Creative had the privilege of
handling a very special group. We brought in the group of Miss Hong
Kong 2010 Finalists to India for a special segment of the pageant.
This event will generate great publicity for Indian Tourism as it is
being widely covered by many overseas, TV channels.
On their last day in India, the 15 Hong Kong China finalists danced to
the tune of AR Rahman’s song Jai Ho in the Capital, mesmerizing the
audience with their moves according to a news item in The Times of
India.
The finalists had practiced for only five days before putting up a
show choreographed by Kanika, a Delhi based choreographer and her
crew. “It was all so sudden and fast, just like a toofaan,” said
Kanika about the entire experience. The steps were a mixture of simple
jazz and classical Indian dance movements, complete with traditional
Indian hand mudras and poses, reminding one of the beautifully carved
dance figures on the walls of the South Indian temples, but only that
these gorgeous ladies were clad in colourful Grecian goddess dresses,
Truly Bollywood: Two male members of the Hong Kong team joined the
finalists during the practice session. They were truly inspired by
Bollywood. One of them got the audience cracking up with laughter with
the ‘putting the light bulb from one hand and petting the dog from the
other’ Darcy step from Gurinder Chadha’s movie Balle Balle! Amritsar
To LA. “We love Bollywood movies back home,” said Jason Wong, the
pageant’s official travel agent.
Creative Travel looked after all the logistics for the trip including
all the persmissions for the shooting at the various monumnets and
palaces apart from playing a key role in selection of the venus for
the various sets. This is not the first time we have been involved in
such unique projects. We take pride in our ability to make this happen
in this part of the world.

Three hundred years old and shut for
40 years, library opens again
An ancient library housing holy manuscripts and thousands of
precious books, including a version of the Quran penned by Mughal
emperor Aurangzeb, has reopened in Aurangabad after a gap of 40
years. The 17th-century library in the old part of the city is now
emerging as a destination for tourists, students and research
fellows. In the library, which houses 3,500 books—in Urdu, Arabic
and Persian—on history, law, medicine, sufism, religion and
philosophy, the chief attraction is a version of the Quran penned by
emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir. The leather cover of the Quran has gold
embossing on both sides and throughout the book, every full stop is
marked with a golden dot. The library, also home to a 500-page book
on Islamic philosophy, handwritten in four languages by Mir Gulam
Ali, and an Arabic-Urdu-Persian dictionary that runs into a thousand
pages, is counted among the oldest in India. |

Kovalam to be premier surfing
destination
An artificial submerged reef and a walkway were recently inaugurated
at Kovalam by Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism. The
reef was built as part of the tsunami rehabilitation project.
Tourists can now look forward to a host of water sports such as
surfing, wave riding, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating and water
skiing. The reef, installed between the Light House and the Edakkal
rocks off the Light House beach, will protect the severely eroding
coast and make the resort a round-the-year surfing destination. The
reef would also help the beaches at Kovalam to get stabilized and
make them wider in due course by eliminating the offshore wave
power. |

A trekking route historically and
culturally rich
A new trail has been added to the long list of hiking routes in
mid-western Nepal for trekkers and mountaineers – the Manakamana to
Gorkha trail. The 25km trek from Manakamana leads to sparsely
populated villages, historically and religiously important sites,
forested areas with chautara's (resting places), picturesque
sceneries, and lots of stone-slab stairways before reaching Gorkha.
Located at Manakamana hill, the Manakamana temple is one of the
major religious sites of Nepal. From this area, one can have a
panoramic view of the Gorkha Bazaar, mountain ranges, villages and
forests. The temple of Gorakhnath is also regarded as an important
place from the historic and cultural points of view. Visitors will
have to pass through many other historic and religious places like
Gorkha Palace, Bakrashwor Temple, the Tantrik Lakhan Thapa cave near
Tinmane, the statute of the first martyr Lakhan Thapa at Kaule,
Gorakhali temple, among others. They can enjoy different cultures,
customs, and local cuisine of the area. From the trail, there are
scenic views of several mountains like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre,
Manaslu, Himchuli, Ganesh Himal and Lantang Himal in the northern
part. |
