Hyderabad
International Convention Centre bags Green Globe Certified status
Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) has achieved Green
Globe Certified status under the Green Globe Earthcheck Certification
programme managed by EC3 Global. The global programme has recognised
HICC’s commitment to operate at the world’s highest environmental
standard. HICC is the first Green Globe certified convention centre in India.
As per the release, prior to achieving Certification, HICC benchmarked
using the EarthcheckTM tool against key environmental indicators
including energy and water consumption, total waste production and
community commitment. The Certification process involves either an
onsite audit or offsite assessment by an EC3 Global approved
independent third party Green Globe Auditor. The successful completion
of the Certification process demonstrates HICC’s strong commitment to
the principles of environmental sustainability.

Goa Chitra, an
Ethnographical museum opens for tourists
Goa Chitra, a museum set against the back drop of an organic farm, is a
tribute to the Goan ancestral way of life. The museum comprises more
than 4000 objects. The structure of the museum blends modern
technologies with the traditional materials and elements, such as wood,
stone, doors, pillars and railings. The concept of the museum’s
construction resonates with the view that resources are to be used
judiciously. The different zones at Goa Chitra include an art gallery,
organic farm, museum, Tulsi, the recreational and performance area, and
a health and organic shop. The orchid farm has plantations of coconut,
mango, chickoo, banana, pineapple, amla, cocum, cashew, drumsticks. The
fields are sown with three types of indigenous rice namely Kendel,
Honchro and Doga. Goa Chitra seeks not only to restore and preserve the
traditional agrarian lifestyle but also to promote the adoption of
eco-friendly techniques practiced by ancestors. |

India's first international
marina in Kochi
A full-fledged marina of international standards; first of its kind in
India has come up in Kochi. Poised to become an icon in the travel and
tourism sector of Kerala, the marina was inaugurated by Sri. A. K.
Antony, Honourable Minister for Defence, Government of India. Not far
away from Marine Drive on the mainland of Kochi and close to the sea
port of Kochi, the marina would have berthing facilities for 50 yachts
at a time. Further, there is a Marina House, which would serve as a
station for vessels to refuel and to replenish their stores. The Marina
House would also have accommodation facility - 32 rooms, a recreation
centre, convention centre and playground for children. One of the main
attractions, which is part of the marina at Bolgatty Island would be
the golf course. This stopover for yachts would significantly enhance

Heritage Liqueurs introduced at
Rambagh Palace, Jaipur
Rajasthan, home to many renowned royal families, is now offering a
sip of the heritage liqueurs (once a royal beverage). Made from
natural ingredients like saffron, rose, dry fruits and honey, these
flavored drinks are rich in medicinal qualities as well the recipe
for these liqueurs has been sourced from historic records as various
royal families have given their secret formulations to make these
spirits a success. These liqueurs, packed in designer colored
bottles, retain a regal charm and attract one with their striking
splendor. The combination of these extraordinary ingredients and
packaging all combine to make these brews a pricey affair. Rambagh
Palace thought of doing something new and started the concept of
pairing royal desserts with the heritage liqueurs. These Royal
liqueurs are displayed in spectacular crystal decanters at the
Indian specialty restaurant; Suvarna Mahal. Guests can enjoy these
liqueurs with their desert at the restaurant. They are also
