Welcome
to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India
|
|
Dear Industry Colleagues:
Here is another edition of the award winning "Creatively Yours" and
Happy New year to our friends across the world.
For us in the Creative
Travel family, 2012 brings in our 35th year of being amongst India’s
most respected travel companies. The end of the year past saw
positive trends for our business and we look at 2012 as heralding
exciting new opportunities for our team. We launched two exciting
initiatives this past year - 'The Creative Academy of Tourism' and 'JungleSutra
Wildlife Journeys'. The
Creative Academy is a venture close to our hearts. It is our way of
giving back to our industry and helping in the efforts to build a base
of highly skilled manpower base for the tourism industry.
2011 was also a record breaking year when it came to winning global
accolades.
On September 28 of this year, at a glittering ceremony in Bangkok,
before
industry leaders from over 30 countries, the World Travel Awards named
us as "India's Leading
Destination Management Company". The World Travel
Award has been recognising the best in tourism, hospitality and
aviation across
all continents for over 18 years. On October 6, again in Bangkok,
before an equally illustrious audience
of
tourism leaders from across Asia-Pacific, for the second year running
we were
voted by the readers of TTG publications as the "Best Travel Agency in
India". The much coveted annual TTG Travel Awards has been
recognizing the
luminaries of the travel industry since 1989. To cap our glory, on
October 14, at stunning reception in
Las
Vegas, the motivational travel industry’s global association, Site,
relaunched
its Crystal Awards program where we won not one but TWO Site Crystals for our work in on
incentive travel programs.
We are indeed very, very proud of our team because they make this all
possible.
We Indians lead a very relaxed
life. Our concept of time is very different from the western world. We
spend the year deeply engrossed in our politics, our movies and in our
cricket. We fight, scream and shout at every opportunity we get.
Patience is an alien concept, yet we have an endless tolerance for our
nations political incompetencies & bureaucratic delays. We love our
festivals, our togetherness, our opportunities to celebrate, never
missing a moment to have a party. We love our rituals and ceremonies.
We love our summers for the mangoes they bring and our winters for all
the hot tea and spicy pakoras to eat. We love being different,
confusing and unique. This viral video on 'Driving in Delhi' says it
all http://youtu.be/crT6kHiB2hc.
India is an
unexplainable
phenomenon and Indians can sometimes be odd, but we are a people who
truly believe that 2012 will be yet another greater year to party,
enjoy family & friends and to cherish life for the future moments
it gives rather than moaning about the past..
So wherever
you are and whatever your heart desires, on behalf of the Kohli family
and the entire team at Creative Travel, Plan it! Meetings &
Conferences, The Creative Academy of Tourism & JungleSutra Wildlife
Journeys, we wish you and your loved ones a great and joyful
2012.
Have a Creative Holiday Season!

Three New Museums in West Bengal
By next January, Bengal will be able to boast of three new museums
covering as diverse areas as Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das to documenting
vibrant tribal art and varied brews of tea. Two of these museums will
be in Darjeeling while the third one in Jhargram. There will be pats
and scroll paintings made by patuas, dokra art made of metal casts,
masks - especially the Chhau masks - terracotta, tussar, stone carving,
wood curving, mats and so on. Not only will it give the tourism
industry a boost, but also lend a huge financial impetus to the local
people, whom the state wants to woo especially after joint operations
against the Maoists have been stepped up.

introduction program in India; 59 years after the last of them were
wiped out in the country. The last cheetah in India had died in Sarguja
— now in Chhattisgarh— in 1947, according to wildlife experts. TNN

IRCTC to introduce special
train ‘Takht Express’ linking Sikh shrines
Encouraged by the successful launch of the Mahaparinirvan Express,
which links Buddhist shrines in the country, Indian Railways has
decided to introduce a special train, Takht Express, linking Sikh
shrines across the country to fulfil the needs of devotees.
According to a Railway Board official, Indian Railways is working out
the details in consultation with the Indian Railway Catering and
Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in this connection. The fares, composition
of bogies and other details are being worked out. ". According to him,
it would be a luxury train which would cover six Sikh shrines located
across the country, including Amritsar and Patna Sahib.
Indian Railways intends to provide boarding, lodging and meals to
devotees travelling by the Takht Express. "Though the journey could
last for about seven to ten days, the Railways are keen to extend its
proposed plan for the entire tour by a few days more depending on its
requirement," he said. |

Sri Lanka
On-line Visa Update
There has been another unfortunate development in the ETA (Visa on
line) scheme. Due to technical problems encountered in its
implementation, the Authorities have issued the following statement:
"The ETA (electronic travel authorization) system is operational from
01.01.2012," "However, the existing facility of Free Visa on arrival
will continue until March 31, 2012 for those who have made travel
arrangements before December 31, 2011." Basically, they are planning to
continue with the present system of visa on arrival to all travelers
who book their holiday prior to 31st December 2011 and arrive in Sri
Lanka before 31st March 2012. The clients are expected to carry a
voucher or a document confirming this (that they booked prior to
31/12/11) or send their local agent the names and passport details
which will then be forwarded to the Immigration.
The Trade has explained in detail the absurdity of this and are hopeful
that a more practical scheme will be implemented. We will let you know
as soon as this is known.
