Welcome
to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India
Dear Industry Colleagues
:
Is there a silver lining behind the dark cloud ? We would like
to think so. Business has been down for us all across the
world but interestingly, we do find some pockets of increased
interest in India. No one ever expected business will come to a
complete standstill, so some interest in the destination is
good for the moral.
I have also seen many friends in international markets ask us
about the Indian outbound market. This is one segment that has
grown and is as robust as ever. India is growing at a GDP rate
of almost 6%. There is a real interesting piece in the latest
issue of Newsweek Magazine which sums it up.....
http://www.newsweek.com/id/212025. The Indian economy is
strong, is growing and is filling in voids left by
international travelers. If there was ever a time to be in the
Indian market, it is now.
Our past issues of Creatively Yours highlighted the new Visit
India 2009 plan. As a DMC, we on our part have created special
packages for the coming few months. If you would like to
receive these, please do let us know.
We at Creative Travel and our specialist brands - "Signature Tours",
the luxury travel specialist and "Plan it!", the finest conference
management team in India are proud to offer the best of India and her
neighbouring countries to the discerning traveler. With a 31 year award
winning history behind us, we look forward to the opportunity of
showing you what true destination management is all about.
To read more about us, you

not had the pleasure of working with, all I can say is try us and see
the Creative magic for yourself.
Through "Creatively Yours" we

Summer
Special Offer.... |
|
|
|
|
|
There is a lot of
misconception as to why India cannot be
visited during summer. Not all are true. There is a lot one can do in
summer and the best part is that we can leverage our volumes from the
season into some great deals into the off season.
Some reasons to visit India in the Summer are -
-
The
best value possible -
you get to stay in some of the finest hotels in the world at prices
that you would pay for a 4 star hotel in the winter.
-
For
wildlife lovers, late
April and May are the best time of the year to see the famous Indian
tiger. This elusive animal stays closer to the water during this time,
and is more easily seen.
-
It's
cooler than you think!
Particularly in the desert regions of Rajasthan, the peak heat is
between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, when you could relax and enjoy the hotel.
Sightseeing can be done in relative comfort in the early mornings and
the evenings. The Indian summer is not hotter than many other
destinations that you would consider visiting in the summer months -
Dubai, Spain, Miami, etc.
-
Enjoy
the monuments without
the crowds - you have the luxury of visiting the monuments in the
cities you visit, without having hundreds of tour buses present at the
same time.
-
Enjoy
the hotels - with
lower summer occupancies, you can enjoy the hotels to their fullest.
Use the spa without having to book it in advance, step into the
restaurants without a reservation, have the pool to yourself......
Creative Travel is pleased
to offer individual tours for Golden Triangle and Kerala.........Come

From - Jane Bouard
To - Creative Travel
Hi
Felt I must contact you about a holiday we recently took in your wonderful
country.
We arrived on March 7th at New Delhi having flown in from Goa via London
Gatwick. We were met by one of our reps and our driver Raj Palsharma.
We spent a week seeing some of India's magnificent history and culture,
the guides that explained some of this to us were very good. They were all
friendly, spoke english very well and were always ready to answer our
questions.
We have nothing but praise for Raj Palsharma our driver. He was friendly,
helpful and an extremely competent driver. Nothing was too much trouble
for him. He was always willing to go the extra mile and explain things
about the Indian culture when we were traveling between cities without a
guide. Raj helped make our holiday such a success and we are very grateful
to him. Will you please say hello to him for us and pass on our sincere
thanks we really appreciated the attention he gave us.

The essence of Kerala awaits visitors at Kovalam
The next tourist season at Kovalam would have the visitors admiring the
rural attractions of Kerala in the same breath as the famed beaches of
Kovalam. Aarankal, a place near Kovalam is being transformed into a patch
of rural Kerala with ingredients that would have the visitors enjoy some
of the rustic attractions of Kerala. The project is being implemented by
Kerala Tourism in association with KITCO and other agencies. The upcoming
rural Kerala enclave, coming up on a seven-acre land would have
representations of all the 14 districts of Kerala. Other features of the
enclave are stalls and display areas for exhibits of artistic value,
handicrafts and also spaces for artisans, small sales outlets, a spacious
food court for trying food specialities of different districts and a pond
with a capacity of five lakh litres. An attraction of the rural enclave
would be an Ettu Kettu house based on traditional Kerala architecture. The rural enclave is coming
up on land with hill slopes and rocky outcrops and offers a great view of
the Arabian Sea and the setting sun from its highest point. The project is
expected to be completed by the end of this year |

Tiger Hill in Kargil to be developed as tourist destination
Visiting the foothills of famous Tiger Hill, recaptured by the soldiers
exactly ten years ago during the Kargil conflict, would no longer be a
dream for tourists as the state government plans to promote it as a
tourist spot. The Tourism Department is planning to develop Tiger Hill,
recapturing of which from the Pakistani Army, tilted the war in India's favour in 1999, and Tololing as tourist destinations. The government plans
to build hotels and provide other amenities along the national highway
connecting Srinagar and Leh, which provides a glimpse of the Tiger Hill.
The Army has already built a small museum in the sector showcasing the
bravery of about 200 soldiers who recaptured the Tiger Hill from the
Pakistani Army. |

Tarnetar Fair : 23 - 25 August 12, 2009, Gujarat
If you think you are prepared to walk out of your mundane experience and
free-fall into a whirlwind of colors, romance and music, then head for the
Tarnetar Fair. Based on the legend of Draupadi's swayamvara, this fair is
a celebration of ethnic Gujarat’s folk-dance, music, costumes and the
arts, centered around young tribal men and women seeking marriage
partners. But even for those not interested in finding a spouse, the
romance and excitement in the air are captivating, and every year the fair
seems only to grow in popularity, attracting visitors and tourists from
all parts of the world. Here the many colorful costumes, glittering
ornaments and free-spirited movements of folk dances, all combine to
create a memorable scene. The Tarnetar Mela covers a large part
of the Tarnetar village with a huge number of stalls put up to sell
beautiful local handicrafts unavailable elsewhere, along with ethnic
jewellery, statues of deities and traditional attire. |

Elephant Gathering
In August & September each year in Sri Lanka, herds of wild elephants
converge in ‘The Gathering,’ one of the most awesome wildlife spectacles
in the world. Located between Habarana and Pollonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectare
Minneriya National Park, is the location of this spectacle. The park
consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to species
such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. Every year, ‘The Gathering’
takes place on the receding shores of the Minneriya Lake. The central
feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya irrigation tank (built in 3rd
century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season, the surrounds of the
tank is an incredible place to observe elephants who come to bathe and
graze on the grasses as well as the huge flocks of birds that come to fish
in the shallow waters. Minneriya provides an ideal venue for herds of
elephants during the dry season when waterholes in the forests evaporate
into cracked mud patches.
Almost three hundred of wild elephants gather each evening during the
season along the banks of the Minneriya Tank for food, water, shelter and
match-making. Asian elephants are renowned as highly social animals and
the reservoir or tank meetings demonstrate their complex group dynamics in
action. |

Giant Rays' "Feeding Frenzy" Spots Protected in Maldives
In June 2009, Maldives created three new marine protected areas that
include Hanifaru and other crucial feeding areas for mantas and whale
sharks, the world's largest fish.
Fishing, boat speeds, and waste disposal will be regulated. The new
sanctuaries, however, will allow some diving and snorkeling. Roughly
40-foot-long (12.2-meter-long) long, plankton-hungry whale sharks also
show up for the Hanifaru Bay feeding frenzy and stand to benefit from the
June 2009 designation of three new marine refuges in the Maldives. At
least 120 of the shipping container-size sharks live in the ocean around
the Maldives, one of the few places in the world where the gentle giants
can be found year-round. |
