Welcome to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India |
|
Dear Industry Colleagues:
Here is another edition of the award winning "Creatively
Yours".
Last month we achieved another milestone in our
33 year history with our winning two National Tourism Awards
as “India’s Best Inbound Tour Operator” in our category and as
"India's Best MICE Operator" (Meetings, Incentives,
Conferences and Events) from the Government of India.
That was topped by another new achievement where we won the
Indian events industry honour for "MICE Tour of the Year" at
the 2010 WOW Event & Experiential Marketing Awards. This was a
surprise for us. The jury consisted of top marketing
professionals from the corporate world.
We are now planning programs and pricing for Summer. We
encourage all of you to send through your thoughts on what you
think could work for your markets, so that we can have the
team customize a product set for you. We at Creative intend to
aggressively push the price competitiveness of India in its
shoulder period as we feel the market is turning around for us
all and let's use that to gain some interaction and make up
for lost business.
You shall see some new and exciting initiatives this year from
Team Creative. New experiential inclusions, new circuits, new
concepts... we take pride in our ability to make a trip to the
Indian sub-continent something very different.

Sunday, March 21, 2010
From - Herbert & Jenny Brooks
To - Creative Travel
Dear Mr. Dogra,
It has taken us a while to get back into our English routine, but we are
now reliving our holiday through the many photographs we took in India,
and remembering all those who were so helpful to us.
Firstly we must say how brilliantly you organized everything for us –
everywhere we went there was someone to meet us, no matter what time of
day or night, and they stayed with us as long as necessary.
Names we recall are Arun Rai and N.Janarthanan, but there were others
whose names unfortunately we don’t know. It was wonderful to have such a
reliable couriers and it made our holiday completely stress-free.
We would like to make an apology to your people in Agra. The Shatabadi
Express was delayed by 5 hours because of the fog on 23rd January and we
were very grateful to the courier and driver who had been waiting for us
since early morning and were still very courteous and helpful when we
arrived. However, the delay reduced the amount of time we could spend at
the Taj Mahal and we were a bit upset about this, and we feel we unfairly
completed your questionnaire, not giving your guide (Peewee) the credit we
should have done. He was very knowledgeable and did all he could in the
time available. Please convey our apologies to him for this. And also we
must commend the driver Bhuri Singh who took us all the way back to New
Delhi on a very foggy, traffic-laden road – and then turned round and
drove back to Agra. He was brilliant.
If we ever return to India we would have no hesitation in asking you to
make similar arrangements for us again as we were very impressed by your
organisation, and our daughter from America will be recommending you to
all her friends who intend traveling to India.
With kind regards, and best wishes to all your staff, from Herbert & Jenny
Brooks

Wilpattu reopened to the public
The Wilpattu National Park was re-opened to the public after seven
years. The park was closed due to the security situation which
prevailed in the country during the war. Wilpattu has always been a
fantastic experience for wildlife lovers, its key attraction being its
leopards. Before the park closed, Wilpattu was ‘the place’ to see
leopards. The park also has a large population of elephants. Wilpattu
has a large diversity of ecosystems, but its most unique feature is
the presence of many natural lakes or “villus” with fresh or brackish
water that had given the park its name. Though they look like lakes,
these ‘villus’ are flat basin-like fault depressions on the earth’s
surface containing purely rain water. Two of these ‘villus’ are
saline. Elephant, sloth bear, sambur, spotted deer are some of the 31
mammalian species that can be easily seen in the Wilpattu national
park. The bird diversity within the park is high. Recent research
recorded 137 species of birds where 51% out of the breeding resident
species of the island had been seen within the park boundaries. The
monitor lizard, Mugger crocodile, Common cobra, Indian python and
several species of tortoise are among the reptiles that can be found
in the Wilpattu villus. |

Maldives to fight rising sea levels
with floating islands
The tiny island nation of the Maldives is under serious threat from
rising sea levels caused by climate change. No part of the 1200
islands which make up the Maldives is more than six feet above sea
level, so as sea-levels rise (as they will if rampant climate change
is not stopped), the entire nation will be under water. Because of
this, the Maldives government is pulling out all the stops in the
fight against climate change. Not only has the entire country gone
carbon neutral, educated all of their children in environmental
science and furiously built retaining walls around every island, but
the government is buying up land in nearby nations as a place to
retreat to when the Maldives disappears. Now it appears that the
intrepid Maldivians have come up with a new strategy to fight the
rising tide: creating mini floating islands!
The Maldives government and Dutch Docklands/Dutch Watervalley just
signed an agreement develop several floating facilities for the
islands, including a convention center and golf courses. Designed by
architect Koen Olthuis of Waterstudio.NL, the renderings for the
amphibious mini-cities appear depict star-shaped, tiered islands with
indoor spaces hidden under lush green-roof terraces, complete with
interior pools and beaches. |

Kingfisher Airlines to join Oneworld
India’s Kingfisher Airlines has confirmed its plans to join Oneworld
by signing a memorandum of understanding, the first step towards full
membership of the world’s leading quality airline alliance. The
agreement was concluded at a meeting between Kingfisher Airlines’
Chairman Vijay Mallya and Chief Executives from oneworld’s 11 existing
member airlines, which include some of the best and biggest names in
the industry. Kingfisher has also applied to India’s Ministry of Civil
Aviation for authority to proceed with its membership of oneworld. A
target date for Kingfisher Airlines to join the alliance will be
confirmed once this approval is gained. The process to bring any
airline on board normally takes around 18 months to complete, so
Kingfisher Airlines could be expected to start flying as part of
oneworld during 2011. Kingfisher Airlines’ addition to oneworld will
add 58 cities to the oneworld map – all of them in India. This will
expand oneworld’s network to 800 destinations in almost 150 countries,
served by a combined fleet of 2,350 aircraft operating some 9,000
flights a day, carrying some 340 million passengers a year.
Established oneworld members American Airlines, British Airways,
Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas and Royal Jordanian
already serve five gateways in India between them – Bangalore,
Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. |
