Welcome to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India
|
|
Dear Industry Colleagues:
Here is another edition of the award winning "Creatively Yours".
April - the first month of the traditional shoulder months. The
summer is setting in, but interestingly it still rains and so the
weather is very pleasant. The team is currently onsite at the Great
Indian Travel Bazaar in Jaipur where we are a Diamond Sponsor.
This is also the time when contracting with the hotels for the next
seasons rates takes place. Negotiations are often heated as we would
love to have rates maintained, but the hotels obviously see things
very differently. If only life could be simpler :-). But on a serious note, there is pressure from
hotel owners on their sales teams to bring rates back up after two
years of downward spiraling due to pressure from international tour
operators. Given that the Indian economy is very strong and
domestic travelers are filling hotels apart from many international
markets producing very well, keeping rates steady is going to be a
hard task. Lets see where that takes us.
You shall see some new and exciting initiatives in the next season
from Team Creative. New experiential inclusions, new circuits, new
concepts... we take pride in our ability to make a trip to the
Indian sub-continent something very different.
Through "Creatively Yours" we hope to keep you informed on the
latest news in Team Creative and the destination. We hope you find
this to be useful. Enjoy this issue of our award winning newsletter.

Last Jaipur Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh passes away
The last titular Maharaja of Jaipur and the head of the Kachwaha
clan of Rajputs, Brigadier Sawai Bhawani Singh died at a private
hospital in Gurgaon after prolonged illness. The Jaipur royal died
late on Saturday night due to multi-organ failure, family sources
said here. He was 79.
Born to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II and his first wife Marudhar
Kanwar of Jodhpur, Sawai Bhawani Sing was married to Princess
Padmini Devi in 1966. The royal couple has one daughter Princess
Diya Kumari. He took over as the Maharajah after the death of his
father in 1970, but royal titles were abolished shortly after.
Brigadier Singh, who continued to be revered as a social and
cultural icon after India abolished royal titles, died after a
long illness. He was 79. |
Brigadier Singh also served in the Indian Army and received numerous
honors including a promotion to the presidential bodyguard. He was
awarded India's second-highest gallantry award, the Mahavir Chakra,
for leading troops inside Pakistani territory in Sindh region and
attacking and destroying many Pakistani posts during the Indo-Pak war
of 1971. He was also promoted to the rank of Brigadier in 1974.
Brigadier Singh, also a polo player, ascended the throne of Jaipur in
1970 following the death of his father and remained the official
Maharaja of Jaipur until the abolition of royal entitlements by the
government.
Bhawani Singh was the 40th Maharaja of Jaipur and the 11th ruler as
per the tradition of Amber. He adopted Padmanabh - the son of his
daughter Diya Kumari and son-in-law Narendra Singh - who will now be
ascended to the throne as per the tradition of the royal family, the
family sources said.
Brigadier Singh was cremated with full state honors after a funeral
parade through the city. The funeral cortege was accompanied by
bejeweled elephants and thousands of mourners. Huge crowds gathered to
pay their respects to the deceased Maharajah, adorning his body with
garlands of flowers, before his 12-year-old grandson lit the funeral
pyre.

To - Creative Travel
Hi Priya,
I too was sorry we did not meet as it's always good to meet the
person you are working with. Sanjay looked after us all very well
and it was a pleasure to work with him as nothing seemed too much
trouble. The trip was a tremendous success in spite of the fact
almost everyone suffered with Delhi Belly!.
Everything ran like clockwork and the cricket and elephant polo went
done very well. I hope I can persuade another group of the wide
ranging benefits of visiting India as I too would love to return and
work with you all once again.
As I said I would very much like to work with a team of true
professionals again and if you ever need my endorsement please do
not hesitate to contact me.
Kindest regards to you all.
Julia and Sharon

Delhi airport metro line opens offers
travel in the lap of luxury
The Delhi Metro's airport express line, the first public-private
partnership project, will be operational in a month's time. At a
speed of 120 km per hour, it will take only 18 minutes to reach
Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport from Central Delhi. "The
airport express line is the first metro line in the country which
comes right up to the airport. The line has been beautifully done
and the formal opening will be done in a month's time,". Trains on
the Line are completely different from the existing Metro coaches
and have been procured from CAF Spain, the firm which supplied
trains to Heathrow and Hong Kong Metro Express Lines. Every coach
has several LCD screens and the trains are narrower than the Metro
trains that are currently plying in the capital. Passengers will be
able to check the flight status at all stations on the Airport Metro
Line and will have comfortable seating arrangements on the train. |

Bhutan launches new tourism tagline, logo
A blue poppy, the national flower, blossoming above the text 'Bhutan, Happiness is a place' is the official logo and tagline that will be used to lure tourists to visit Bhutan. It was a recently launched logo by the tourism council of Bhutan (TCB) at the travel fair in Berlin on March 10 to a gathering of more than 50 travel journalists and high-end European tour operators.
A news release from TCB stated that creating a logo was mainly to enhance the uniqueness of the nation, its culture, tradition, environment, architecture and religion, together with the philosophy of gross national happiness, and merge them seamlessly into one. It further stated the logo was made to grasp the essence of and experience Bhutan the moment they looked at it. The logo was
finalized after almost six months of intensive research and reaching out to hundreds of respondents, including tourism stakeholders for feedback on their impressions of Bhutan, TCB's spokesperson Jamyang Choden said. "The task in brief was to create a logo identity for Bhutan tourism, with quintessential elements of Bhutan, which makes it instantly
recognizable."
