Welcome
to another edition of "Creatively Yours"
the newsletter from Creative Travel India
Dear Industry Colleagues
:
Summer has now set in. We just finished a series of very successful
projects and are gearing up to start our product planning and design
for the next season. A lot of new and exciting initiatives are in the
pipe works and you shall hear about them as the months progress.
As mentioned last time, we
have already started our contracting process and do find
a bit resistance from the hotel fraternity on doing a price
correction. There does seem to be a belief that hotel rates should not
be reduced. We as a company have been expressing to the hotels what all
our international partners have been telling us which is that business is on the downward swing and the customer is looking for deals. We shall
continue to spread that message, but it does seem to be an uphill task.
Our past issues of Creatively
Yours highlighted the new Visit India
2009
plan. As a DMC, we on our part have created special packages for the
coming few months. If you would like to receive these, please do let us
know.
We at Creative Travel and our specialist brands - "Signature Tours",
the luxury travel specialist and "Plan it!", the finest conference
management team in India are proud to offer the best of India and her
neighboring countries to the discerning traveler. With a 31 year award
winning history behind us, we look forward to the opportunity of
showing you what true destination management is all about.
To read more about us, you
can download a copy of our company profile at - http://www.travel2india.com/who-we-are.htm
We appreciate the support our
partners all over the world have shown us. It is with your partnership
that Creative is where it is today. For those of you with whom we have
not had the pleasure of working with, all I can say is try us and see
the Creative magic for yourself.
Through "Creatively Yours" we
hope to keep you informed on the latest news in Team Creative and the
destination. We hope you find this to be useful.
Have a Creative Day !

Summer
Special Offer....

There is a lot of misconception as to why India cannot be
visited during summer. Not all are true. There is a lot one can do in
summer and the best part is that we can leverage our volumes from the
season into some great deals into the off season.
Some reasons to visit India in the Summer are-
-
The best value possible -
you get to stay in some of the finest hotels in the world at prices
that you would pay for a 4 star hotel in the winter.
-
For wildlife lovers, late
April and May are the best time of the year to see the famous Indian
tiger. This elusive animal stays closer to the water during this time,
and is more easily seen.
-
It's cooler than you think!
Particularly in the desert regions of Rajasthan, the peak heat is
between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, when you could relax and enjoy the hotel.
Sightseeing can be done in relative comfort in the early mornings and
the evenings. The Indian summer is not hotter than many other
destinations that you would consider visiting in the summer months -
Dubai, Spain, Miami, etc.
-
Enjoy the monuments without
the crowds - you have the luxury of visiting the monuments in the
cities you visit, without having hundreds of tour buses present at the
same time.
-
Enjoy the hotels - with
lower summer occupancies, you can enjoy the hotels to their fullest.
Use the spa without having to book it in advance, step into the
restaurants without a reservation, have the pool to yourself.....
Discover India this summer with Creative Travel and stay
at the Trident Hotels. Five or Seven days package tour visiting

To - Creative Travel
Dear Manoj,
While I am already discussing new itineraries for the autumn, I must
not forget to give you, Manoj, a BIG THANK YOU for the excellent work
you have been doing for us throughout the past months.
We feel that India could well be a problematic destination for some of
our groups. But with Creative's good organisation and your excellent
work for us, everything has gone smoothly and exceeds all expectations.
I want you to know that we realize that it is you that took care of all
the details , changes, adaptations etc which guaranteed that the groups

"Mohabbat the Taj" the
Saga of Love - Daily live Show at Kalakriti Agra"
Visited by Rajeev Kohli for Team Creative
This was the second time I saw the new dance & musical
show in Agra. The show called "Mohabbat The Taj" is a story about the
Taj Mahal. The dialog in its pure urdu form is
scintillating and fortunately it is available in 8 different languages
through simultaneous translation headsets. The show is located at a
venue just 5 minutes away from the Eastern gate of the Taj. It is very
entertaining and colorful and is a great way to end a visit to Agra. I
would recommend that this be added as an inclusion to any Agra visit
for it adds a new dimension to the Indian experience.
For more details on the show, contact
us or visit their website at

Grim
Outlook For Travel
Mon, 2009-03-30 00:21
By PATA Emeritus President & CEO Lakshman Ratnapala
San Francisco, 30 March, (Asiantribune.com): The fallout from the
global economic crisis is having a dire impact on all segments of the
world travel and tourism industry – destinations, airlines, hotels and
ancillary services. All regions of the world are affected. Asia is no
exception. This year, 2009, will not be a good year for the tourism
business. The decline in tourism began in the second half of last year
with an abrupt shift in the growth trend. Click

China,
Mumbai, and Palestine lead New Frontiers Awards nominations
Reed Travel Exhibitions has announced the top 10 finalists for the 2009
New Frontiers Awards, a scheme recognizing destinations that make an
outstanding contribution to tourism development in the face of
overwhelming adversity. China’s recovery efforts in the wake of the
“Great Sichuan Earthquake” ensures it leads this year’s nominations.
Measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale, the May 12 mega-quake devastated
the country’s Sichuan province, killing at least 69,000 only three
months before the superpower hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics. Other
front-runners include Mumbai for its resilience against November 2008’s
terrorist attacks, and Palestine for its continuing tourism efforts
amid ongoing political strife. Countries responses to catastrophic
natural disasters resulted in the remaining seven nominations; the USA
received two, Myanmar, Yemen, Tajikistan and Egypt complete the ten
candidates. “This year, we have seen some terrible disasters and the
New Frontiers Awards continue to recognize those destinations around
the world that have achieved the impossible despite seemingly
insurmountable odds. Our nominees are not only countries and cities
that have survived the worst large-scale tragedies imaginable, but they
have all managed to expand their tourism propositions even in the face
of such overwhelming challenges,” said Mark Walsh, group exhibition
director, Reed Travel Exhibitions. The final three nominations will be
decided later this month.

Medical
tourism: India ranks second
A research study has revealed the fact that India ranks second in
medical tourism throughout the world. Interestingly, India spends only
1.2 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product on health issues. But the
country takes proper care of foreign patients. The study says that the
Indian Hospitals treated 4.5 lakh foreign patients in 2007. Thailand
tops the list with a record number of 12 lakh. The research has been
conducted by healthcare researchers Deloitte. The study says that
Indian hospitals treat patients not only from its neighboring states
and the countries of West Asia, but also treat a huge number of
patients from the United States and other European countries. The
inflow of patients to India from the European countries has been
gradually rising. The main reason of the foreign patients to visit
Indian hospitals is the cheaper treatment. During this global financial
meltdown, the cheaper but best treatment attracts foreign patients
towards India. The absence of patient-waiting list is another reason of
attraction towards India.

Baoli
at Nizamuddin reborn
Very soon, there will be one more attraction in the historic Nizamuddin
Basti, apart from its dargah and the famed Thursday qawwali sessions.
The ancient baoli, or step-well, built by sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin
more than 700 years ago, has finally been spruced up after what seems a
lifetime of its treatment both as a sacred place and as a dumping yard.
While Delhi has such baolis, the one in Nizamuddin Basti is the only
one to still have an active underground spring. Thanks to the sufi
connection, its water is considered blessed. Now after seven months of
hard work, the baoli's sacred water has become safe. The step-well is
dear to millions of Nizamuddin's followers and holds a special place in
Delhi's architectural landscape, too. Its walls are made of huge blocks
of Delhi quartzite, the city's only local stone, which is also seen in
the Tughlaqabad fort. Indeed, once the work is finished, the baoli may
again become what it was intended for: a meeting point for Hazrat
Nizamuddin's followers, a sort of Banaras ka ganga ghat - sufi style!

First
roulette rolls, Sikkim expects more tourists
Sikkim is the newest destination for putting your bets and stakes with
a casino being launched in the state. Making the long-pending decision
a reality, Gangtok became the second state in the country to have a
casino in March. The Royal Plaza, the only hotel with five star status
in the state, had recently been granted the provisional license to
operate the land-based live casino. Presently, the casino has 10 slot
machines, two roulette tables, one blackjack table, one baccarat table
and a flush table manned and operated by a specialised and experienced
team from Nepal. The casino will be open from 6pm to 4am everyday. “It
is a soft opening now. We will be investing Rs 30 crore to have a
full-fledged casino in a bigger room in the next three months,” Naresh
Subba, the director of The Royal Plaza said. The state government aims
to attract high-end domestic and foreign tourists with the casino bid,
which has already created ripples in the hospitality sector both
national and international.

73 Harappan era burials unearthed near Delhi
At least 73 burials have been unearthed just 60 km from the Indian
capital, pointing to the largest Harappan cemetery found till date. The
excavations could clear many gaps in history, archaeologists said. The
remains of the civilisation have been found in a 20-hectare-site at
Farmana, in Haryana's Rohtak district. Archaeologists from three
universities have been at work for three seasons excavating the site
that could turn out to be a breakthrough in the study of the Harappan
civilisation. "We have found some 73 burials at the site at Farmana.
This could possibly the largest such site. Harappan cemeteries are very
rare and that too in such huge numbers," Osaga Uesugi, professor at the
Research Institute for Humanity and Nature in Kyoto, Japan said. |

Forsyth's
Lodge, Satpura opens
Forsyth's Lodge is a wonderfully stylish and comfortable lodge situated
in approximately 45 acres of jungle about a kilometer from the northern
edge of the Tawa Dam which is also the park boundary of the Satpura
Tiger Reserve, a relatively new national park. While the reserve
encompasses some of the finest tiger habitat in the subcontinent and
tigers are present in good numbers, the idea is to introduce guests to
the host of other species – sloth bear and leopard to name but two - of
rare and exciting animals that abound in this beautifully virgin and
unexploited area. Uniquely, Satpura is the only tiger reserve that will
permit walking safaris lead by trained local guides. The accommodation
comprises of 12 individual cottages (8 twin and 4 double). All rooms
are centrally air-conditioned. The cottages and main lodge are
primarily constructed of mud and wood and are inspired by local village
designs. The rooms are light and airy with subtle furnishings which
blend with their environment. Spacious private verandahs face out into
the surrounding jungle. With much wildlife – including bears using the
lodge grounds, the cottages have been positioned in an arc behind the
main building for security. The lodge will be open from 16th October –
