  Diwali – 30th October 2016

Colourful Diwali also known as the "festival of lights", is an ancient Hindu festival which spiritually signifies the return of Lord Ram, after his fourteen-year exile. The festival celebrates his return as the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. It is one of the biggest festivals of the year and is celebrated all over the country by people lighting up diyas and candles all around their house and performing pujas or prayer ceremonies in order to seek the divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. Gifts are shared amongst friends and family and particularly in the cities the actual day is celebrated with an abundance of fire crackers making for a boisterous festival feeling!
