Up and away: Choppers in J&K, hot-air balloons and seaplanes in Goa

Goa: hot-air balloons and seaplanes

Goa hippies, rejoice! Apart from bumming around on a beach (no judgment), you can also get pretty high. In the sky, that is. Goa Tourism has launched hot-air balloon flights from various points across the state. Hop on a balloon flight from Assolda Ground, Chandor, in South Goa for an hour-long, 360-degree view of the sunshine state.

There’s another way to get up in the air, and this one saves you the long drive out of Dabolim airport. December will see the launch of a seaplane service, which will take travellers landing at Goa straight to Dona Paula, Coco beach (Nerul), Miramar, or Chapora. The 9-seater aircraft will land on the sea and dock at floating jetties, from where small boats will take passengers ashore.

J&K: new helicopter service

If you ever wondered what a bird’s eye view of Kashmir looked like, you can now find out thanks to the spiffy helicopter service launched by J&K Tourism. The helicopters will fly from Srinagar airport to Pahalgam and the ski resort of Gulmarg. Apart from the one-way copter rides, the ministry has also launched 15-minute ‘air-safaris’ over Srinagar.
