Mural magic on
Delhi walls |
|
|
|
Delhi's
fascination with
walks is
never-ending,
and the latest
addition to
these walks are
the Street Art
walks. Thanks to
the St+Art Delhi
project,
Delhiites and
tourists can now
see several
colourful walls
painted by
international
artists all at
once place, at
the Lodhi Art
District, which
happens to be
one of the first
art districts in
the country.
The art
district, which
begins at
Meherchand
market, has 22
murals. The
artists have
chosen different
themes - some
have expressed
their love for
Delhi, while
some chose to
give
socio-political
messages. KN
Singh, a
resident of the
area, told us,
"Now, when we
look at these
walls, it
surprises us how
we lived without
this art for
years. The plain
walls were
always ugly, but
the most we
could do was
paint them. The
idea of artists
coming here and
transforming the
area from just
another colony
to a street art
district, was
something beyond
our
imagination." |
